Ashanti Shequoiya Douglas, also known as Ashanti was born in Glen Cove New York on October 13, 1980. Tina Douglas was her mother and Ken Kaide Thomas Douglas previously had a voice. The Kenashia Shia family is their younger sibling. Douglas has named her in honour of the Ashanti Empire located in Ghana where women had power and influence and Douglas would like Ashanti to follow the same model. Ashanti was originally featured in the song of Big Pun's How We Roll as a backing vocalist. Also, she was on the Fat Joe's song"What's Luv?" She was also on Fat Joe's What's Lulv? The track was a sample of DeBarge's 1983 single Stay with Me for her first single Foolish. Ashanti has released her debut self-titled album in 2002 through Irv Goti's Murder Inc. label. The Declaration the fourth studio album, was released on the 3rd of June, 2008. Hey Baby, After the Club (released on radio and digital formats) came out October 16 on the 16th of October, 2008. The singer played Latasha in Army Wives and starred in the movie Christmas in the City. Aitch performs the Rock wit U song for Baby 10 March 2022.
